Here comes the crazy

As the prospect of a Democrat becoming president continues to loom, the authoritarians within the conservative movement are starting to slide deeper into Manichean paranoia. If Obama wins, the floodgates will open and we will hear all kind of insane conspiracy about how Obama wants to create a one world government, how people have mysteriously died around him, about invented scandals of some sort or another, he wants to outlaw guns, etc.

Tom DeLay, a man who supposedly lives by the standard of "Thou shall not bear false witness", offers us a sampling.

On The Sean Hannity Show, Tom DeLay falsely claimed that Sen. Barack Obama is "in favor of a bill to fingerprint every American in this country and have a national fingerprint database."
And of course, there is the far "far right" who already want to kill and maim in the name of defending America from a Democrat. Mainstream figures like Hannity and Limbaugh who promote these sorts of conspiracies and describe Democrats as a threat to America just add fuel to the extremist fire.

Oh, that's rich, coming from the political party that has brought us Guantanamo, ditching habeas corpus, creating the "Matrix" database system, wiretapping without warrants, etc. etc. ad nauseum.
